INKIJK

Open Call

Through an open call, INKIJK asked designers and artists to fantasise about what’s behind the metal plating currently blocking an inside view of what used to be Doel’s windows, garages and storefronts.

Five windows were initially selected, strategically located within Doel Festival’s perimeter, from Doel’s old bank building, the monumental Camerman House, to a storefront in the Pastorijstraat, a garage in the Koggestraat and a small window of a corner house across from Doel’s city hall.

Artists were challenged to design one of five interiors. Any type of inside space was possible, drawn or painted, a 3D environment, photo collage, … which was to be printed and pasted onto the metal plating of their respective windows, visible during Doel Festival’s fifth edition.

In the end we chose six winning designs instead of five, as we thought all of these were as powerful to present, adding an additional row house window in the Koggestraat.

These were the winning designs as presented in their respective windows during Doel Festival, shown in order by Yannick Val Gesto, Elisabeth Lorentzen Roggeman, Jordy Philips, Maude Lefebvre, Irma Janssens and Helene Vercaygne.
